Solution: Negotiate with the government and regulatory bodies to seek a reduction in the tax burden on electricity and invest in renewable energy sources to diversify the energy mix.

 

Impacts of the COVID-19 Pandemic on the Electricity Sector

The COVID-19 pandemic brought a series of challenges to the Brazilian electricity sector, affecting energy utilities in various ways, such as:

This differential can also be noticed within the electricity sector by companies that, despite the impacts caused by the decrease in consumption of some market segments, increased non-technical losses and mass arrears, as well as revenue fluctuations and difficulties in the continuity of expansion and maintenance projects, managed to maintain their operations and performance levels without the risks threatening their business. Companies with this profile are generally those that have already integrated asset management into their business processes, with operations focused on strategic objectives and risk and people management, presenting greater financial stability and having regulated revenues, with low correlation with economic activity. This characteristic profile is capable of overcoming moments like our current one."
