TEST LABS
Very Low Frequency (VLF) Hipot Test Set for testing Cables and Generators
The HVEX VLF (Very Low Frequency) Tester is the ideal solution for conducting applied voltage tests on high-voltage cables, large motors, and generators, ensuring precise evaluations of insulation integrity in highly capacitive loads. With advanced digital technology, the equipment offers direct sampling of voltage, current, and waveform on the high-voltage side, providing superior accuracy in results. Operation of the HVEX VLF is performed safely and automatically, with overvoltage protection that quickly interrupts the test in case of anomalies, preserving both the equipment and the tested load. Through its control unit integrated into the boosting circuit, the system generates high voltages at very low frequencies, maintaining controlled power applied to capacitive loads. Technical Operating Range: Adjustable operating frequency: from 0.1 Hz to 0.01 Hz Simultaneous testing capability for multiple phases Flexible adjustment of test time and applied voltage Safe and controlled tests on isolated systems with high capacitance Typical Applications: Acceptance and preventive maintenance tests on high-voltage cables Testing of large motors and generators Low-frequency withstand voltage tests Insulation resistance measurement in electrical power systems Diagnosis of insulation aging in cables and rotating equipment Standards Complied With: IEC 60502-2 – Power cables with extruded insulation for voltages from 6 kV to 30 kV CENELEC HD 620 and HD 621 – Acceptance tests for high-voltage cables DIN VDE 0276-620 and 0276-621 – German rules for medium and high-voltage cable testing IEEE Std 400 – Recommended practices for applied voltage tests on power cables
